Shrinking ruling coalition ranks
At the beginning of Abazovic and URA’s coalition with DF and other representatives of Greater Serbian nationalism, two things were immediately clear. The first is that they followed the path of the Movement for Changes (PzP) to political psychosis and marginalization. The “prophecy” about Dritan’s treading on the trodden path of Medojevic, which we wrote about on the pages of the column almost four years ago, had been fully fulfilled. Dritan and Medo were in the coalition in Podgorica.
Both left by their former DF protectors to fight for themselves.
Another political “prophecy” was also fulfilled. But the latter was more experiential. Budva. Following the example of Budva, where URA was used and then discarded, we predicted that the same would happen at the state level. And it did.
And all that you could read on the pages of CdM, our columns and in the Ten to Eight column about what DF would do with URA, Andrija Mandic said on Friday in his reply to Filip Adzic, and what he highlighted and emphasized on his Twitter profile:
“And now I need to answer something to you. You’re talking to me about how I’m here because of the position”, began Mandic, while Adzic was trying to justify himself while sitting in his seat: “I didn’t say that…”. Mandic did not allow himself to be interrupted in a burst of inspiration – “Can all three of you look at yourselves in the mirror? With three MPs, the prime minister was from your rows and you were a minister. And someone who had 27 MPs watched, applauded and voted in favour of you. And you with such behavior after all that, instead of stopping, praying to God and saying ‘thank you’ and adding ‘there are only three of us, only 10,000 people supported us’, you now have four and it’s good… you have a progress of 30%, but you drew all your power from those three MPs… That number 3 was magical on 30 August, today it is no longer magical. You’ve got to go to number four. That doesn’t mean much. It meant a lot on 30 August. Everything you could take on 30 August thanks to number three, you took it. You didn’t even want Lekic to be prime minister, you thought it belonged to you. It’s over, colleague. Now you have the number four, do whatever you want with four…”
Mandic ended his tirade with a demand that URA apologize to them. After that, Adzic came back with lame excuses and platitudes that Montenegro should not have the interests of Kosovo or Serbia before their own and other non-extreme nonsense that they have been using all these years until they were used up.
URA did not listen to the warnings of the public about where it would end up and it has ended up where it has. And now they will continue their beating by repackaging the same content in every election. Coalitions, nonsense, because the salary must be secured. The same as this repackaging and unification of former independence supporters. They don’t know how to do anything else, and no one will subsidize businesses that were subsidized while they were in power.
Now, URA is URA, it has played its part for now. And this text would not make any sense if it was only about URA. This text is a warning and a reminder for the Prime Minister and the Europe Now Movement (PES) leader about what happens when you get too close to the Front, or to DPS. With anyone who has a stronger ideology and structure than you. If PES goes into a deep embrace with DF, they will end up like URA and Medojevic, no matter how strong they really are or they think they are. As Frank Underwood says: “Proximity to power fools some people into thinking they own it and control it”. Power takes more than it gives, and power governs the people in power, not the other way round. The price of wearing a ring is high. One must have a great will and discipline to resist the temptations of power. Pride above all.
