We have improved business environment, we are constructing a motorway, we’ve started construction of EUR 120 mil ski resorts and have invested over EUR 55 mil. So far, more than 30 out of the total of EUR 50 mil that have already been contracted have been invested in Kolašin for the construction of cable cars and supporting infrastructure. Thanks to the generous grant support, we’ve ensured a dynamic development of agriculture, invested in rural road and water infrastructure, improved the wood processing sector – said deputy prime minister and agriculture minister in the Montenegrin govt, Mr Milutin Simović, during his working visit to the Municipality of Kolašin.

During the visit, Mr Simović and president of the Municipality of Kolašin, Mr Milosav Bato Bulatović, met with wood processors from Kolašin.

“The state has invested and made conditions, and now others are investing. We have launched a new investment momentum that will open new jobs, new opportunities for the placement of agricultural products and a new quality of life in Kolašin and in the entire north of Montenegro,” Mr Simović said.

He continued: “Only through the ‘economic citizenship’ programme, aimed primarily at the accelerated development of less developed municipalities, seven projects have been contracted so far, four of which in Kolašin. It’s about the construction of four high-end hotels worth EUR 55 mil, with 525 rooms, whose construction will open 340 new jobs.”

During talks with wood processors, both sides tackled the existing market challenges in both local and export market, as well as the ways for their overcoming, the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement. In addition, they were discussing the challenges related to the investment in the area of wood processing and managing forestry funds.
