Sozina, Budoš and Vrmac tunnels maintained on a regular basis

Tunel Sozina

Tunnels Sozina, Budiš and Vrmac have good lighting system, are transparent, clear and safe for users, said for “Pobjeda”, representatives of “Monteput” and Directorate for Transport.

They say that remarks of users regarding traffic conditions in these tunnels are very rare. After the reconstructions and regular investments, these structures get positive grades by the traffic participants.

Budoš tunnel, on the trunk road Podgorica-Nikšić, was opened in the second half of the last century. It’s 1,114 m long.

“It was built in accordance to the standards that were valid back then, they didn’t stipulate the construction of hydroisolation. As the time passed, water accumulated and it became a danger for the traffic participants”, said the representatives of the Directorate for Transport.

In 2014 partial hyrdroisolation was installed, as well as lighting installation with led lamps.

Vrmac tunnel is 1.637 m long and its entire reconstruction lasted two years: 2005-2007. It now has hydroisolation, secondary lining, ventilation and lighting.

“Monteput” reported that Sozina was safe for the users. It was constructed and equipped in accordance with the European directive on minimum tunnel-safety requirements, 2004/54/EC/ and it has ll the mandatory systems for protection from fires, automatic detection of incidents, video surveillance, nine evacuation exits, ventilation system, 28 changeable traffic signs, 42 hydrants and 29 SOS cabins for telephone communication with Command clear center.

Sozina was opened on 13 July 2005. It’s 4.200 m long and it cost 75 million EUR. Around 80 employees are in charge of its maintenance and toll payments.
