Spajic: Due to Europe Now program, there will be short-term layoffs

Milojko Spajić

Minister of Finance and Social Welfare Milojko Spajic says that the economic benefits from the Europe Now program will be quickly visible and that he does not expect a revised budget or the Greek scenario in the next year.

In an interview for Vijesti TV, Spajic says that the state has funds for benefits for mothers as well as for increasing pensions.

Asked whether he will still insist on increasing excise duties and borrowing limits, which Parliament rejected, he answers:

“We have compensated for that part of the missing income by reducing expenditures, amounting to around €33m. Unfortunately, we were forced to reduce the capital budget as well. But it is as it is. I think the most important thing is that the budget is balanced and passed.”
