After thorough discussions aimed at finding a model acceptable to both unions and employers, Prime Minister Milojko Spajic announced that a solution for introducing a seven-hour workday is within reach.

The Government reported that early next week, Minister Naida Nisic will lead further talks as part of the ongoing social dialogue with representatives of trade unions and employers. According to Spajic, these discussions will help finalise the reform’s framework.

“This is one of the most significant labour reforms we aim to implement,” the Prime Minister said, adding that it is designed to enhance citizens’ quality of life, provide more time for families, and promote more efficient and productive work.

He emphasized that, just like the “Europe Now 1” and “Europe Now 2” programmes, this reform will move forward only with the full support of both employers and unions.

Spajic expressed confidence in Minister Nisic’s ability to negotiate an agreement on behalf of the Government within an optimal timeframe—one that meets public expectations and strengthens the position of workers throughout the country.
