Today, Montenegrin MPs are set to discuss two interstate agreements with the United Arab Emirates—one on economic cooperation and another on tourism and real estate development.
Prime Minister Milojko Spajic emphasized that the vote concerns bilateral economic cooperation, not any specific project or investor. He noted that while the agreements themselves cannot be amended, changes to the accompanying law are possible.
Ahead of the session, the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget will review the proposed laws. Meanwhile, protests have taken place outside Parliament, with activists, legal experts, and members of the “Long Beach or Big Lie” coalition urging MPs not to support the agreements until further reviews by the European Commission and relevant institutions.
Critics argue the agreements threaten Montenegro’s sovereignty and lack investor accountability.
