Standard of living of Montenegrin employees is generally lower than in 2016 and the worst recorded situation is in trade, hospitality and construction industry, the Montenegrin Association of Trade Unions (SSCG) has revealed.
“In terms of wages and work conditions, the worst situation is in trade, hospitality and construction industry, as majority of individuals are minimum-wage workers” representatives of the SSCG told to Mina news agency.
They said the wages of public sector employees have remained at the 2016 level, but their purchasing power has been diminished due to inflation. The SSCG believes better financial position of workers may be expected through the implementation of a strategic development goal, envisaged by the Economic Reform program. The Program includes higher economic growth rates and their sustainability, which would result in better standard of living.
The SSCG added 35,000 employees in Montenegro do not regularly receive their salaries. In order to resolve the issue, they should report to the labor inspection, i.e. administrative inspection conducting inspection controls in public sector.
