State should back businesses that can survive the Covid-19 crisis

The state must be aware of the risks and must provide funds for those capable of surviving the epidemic, i.e. those who are able to generate revenues for the state budget, president of the Montenegrin Tourism Association, Žarko Radulović, told in an interview for Dnevne Novine daily.

The government now should find the most adequate measure in order to back businesses who cannot survive due to the coronavirus crisis, according to Mr Radulović.

“The whole world is in trouble, we are all in trouble, but I want to underline that there are those who were in trouble prior to the coronavirus outbreak.”

He continued: “The state should get a closer look at the tax cards of companies, especially of the large ones and see whether they were giving payroll contributions. And then, the things will be much clearer. If I have 400 employees and some other company has the same number, but I pay out €9 million for labor costs and some other company only €2.6 million – something’s wrong here. And we must not get the same assistance from the state. We simply shouldn’t,” assessed Mr Radulović.
