‘Dušan Obradović’ elementary school and ’17 September’ secondary school in Žabljak have received 10 laptops and an electronic board as donation from Mr Petros Stathis, whose company in Žabljak invests €20 million in the construction of ‘Durmitor’ Hotel.
Mr Stathis handed donation to directors Ms Miladinka Kijanović and Ms Jelena Mijović, on the occasion of visiting schools in Žabljak.

President of the Municipality of Žabljak, Mr Veselin Vukićević, and a representative of the Ministry of Education, Mr Spasoje Ostojić, also attended the presentation of the donation. They expressed their gratitude for the donation and reminded that last year Mr Stathis gave the school a new van for the transport of pupils who live in remote villages and provided significant assistance for the reconstruction of a chapel. Mr Stathis also provided millions in medical equipment at the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic.
As announced today, schools will get computer equipment from the same donor. They discussed other technical needs in making school capacities available for use.
They visited student restaurant and kitchen. They emphasized that these schools were to become nursery staff for the entire economy of Žabljak.
This donation is the result of the initiative launched by recently deceased director of ’17 September’ school, Mr Živorad Bojović, who was a longtime teacher of Mathematics. With Mr Bojović at its front, the school received Oktoih award, the highest recognition in the area of education.
Durmitor hotel and Villas LLC, Žabljak, which is carrying out construction of ‘Durmitor’ Hotel has already invested €2.470.398 (no VAT included).
The construction is going according to plan. Works are expected to be finished in 2022.
