A street to be named after Budva hero Babovic?

After Budva resident Branislav Banjo Babovic has saved the life of a three year old girl and the story became viral, a street in the city may be named after him. Babovic told Dnevne Noivine that he was invited by the city administration and asked if he minds renaming the Mainskla street into the Branislav Babovic’s street.

“I thanked the idea and said that, of course, I have nothing against it, but that it is not necessary, because I am the same old Banjo as I was before the event,” Babovic told DN.

DN wrote about Babovic dubbed the hero of Budva, after Dragan Bozovic contacted the newspaper and said that a young man from Budva had risked his own life to save his three year old daughter.

As a reminder, two weeks ago, Babovic ran out in front of a van and managed to catch a girl who was crossing the street at the last minute. He pushed her aside and thus saved her life. Before that, the girl suddenly left her mother, who was buying something at a newsstand, and went out into the street. Fortunately, Babovic was nearby. He had a foot injury since the van crossed it. But he says he has already forgotten it.

After the story about Banjo was published, the Budva hero received countless congratulations. The girl’s father asked him to be his daughter’s godfather.

“I received countless calls. Many people offered me a job. I received a call from the local health centre to work as a driver there. I thanked everyone for the offers and said that I do not need anything because I have a job. After three days I saw the little girl. When she jumped into my arms, I was delighted! I am grateful to Dragan for everything,” Babovic said.
