Strike possible in hospitals and health centers due to salaries

 Mihailo Babović

The president of the Independent Health Union of Montenegro (SSZ), surgeon Mihailo Babovic, said that the union would decide on organizing a strike in health institutions in the coming days, after their demands for salary increases had been ignored. He pointed out that the strike would be organized in all hospitals and health centers whose union organizations are members of the SSZ, in accordance with the prescribed minimum of the work process, daily Dan reported.

Babovic recalled that they expected a meeting with PM Milojko Spajic to be scheduled by 3 January 2024, as was agreed upon in an earlier meeting with Health Minister Vojislav Simun.

The trade unionists are demanding a 17% salary increase for middle-level medical staff in the Branch Collective Agreement, and corrections that concern all employees, relating to overtime, on-call, standby from home, and the like.

Babovic pointed out that the legal obligation to harmonize the Branch Collective Agreement for health with the General Collective Agreement by the end of 2023 was not respected.
