A statement of the Montenegrin Minister of Justice, Human and Minority Rights, Mr Vladimir Leposavić, denying the Srebrenica genocide proves that we’re at the beginning of the process of putting the Bosniaks outside laws. It’s a call for violence and don’t even doubt that we may expect it to be limited. All indicators are there – head of the Srebrenica Memorial Centre, Mr Emir Suljagić, assesses for Pobjeda daily.
Mr Suljagić says this on behalf of himself, as according to law, only the governing board of the Memorial Center can provide statements on behalf of that institution. Mr Suljagić emphasizes that Mr Leposavić’s statement is for his voters – those same who wrote graffiti, broke windows of mosques and attacked the Bosniaks in the town of Pljevlja.
Return to the 90s
He also recalls that immediately after the last year’s parliamentary elections in Montenegro, he warned that the new ruling majority would bring back our country to the 90s rapidly.
“I’d say that it’s happening now. Mr Leposavić cannot hurt us with what he said – by denying the Srebrenica genocide – but this behavior, along with some earlier statements in the Parliament of Montenegro, can be an indicator of an organized and targeted violence towards the Bosniaks.”
Mr Suljagić welcomes the reaction of the President of Montenegro, Mr Milo Đukanović, pointing out that the President’s view is the only acceptable one.
President Đukanović noted yesterday that as long as there are ideologies denying committed crimes, the danger from new losses won’t cease.
