Seven suspects who were arrested in the Range Rover operation on suspicion of selling stolen luxury cars in Albania via Montenegro, have been remanded in custody for 30 days, the Basic Court investigation judge Miladin Pejovic decided.
As the Basic Court told Pobjeda, they have been remanded because of the danger of influencing witnesses. The order on conducting investigation includes Zeljko Petranovic (32), Ivan Djurovic (40), Mijo Mijovic (35) and Branimir Vojvodic (43) from Podgorica, Dragoljub Stamatović (61) from Danilovgrad, Momo Lekovic (48) from Budva and Vladan Kovacevic (26) from Zabljak.
A.M. (41) from Budva is still at large and police are searching for him.
The suspects are charged with the criminal offense of forging documents, concealing and smuggling.
The investigation indicates that the suspects were stealing cars in Western Europe from March to December 2016.
As previously announced, the vehicles were registered in Albania and Montenegro, and their value is estimated at €2m.
Police suspect the arrested people of transporting luxury cars to Montenegro via illegal routes, avoiding official border crossing points or passing them with forged documents. After that, they allegedly altered chassis number on the vehicles to match them with forged foreign documents and then registered them, thus preparing the cars for further sale.
