Suspended sentences for 10 DPS activists

They were found guilty of abuse of office helping in allocation of one-time aid of the Centre for Social Welfare on the eve of the 2011 general elections. They are also required to jointly pay court costs and to pay 4.250 to the Budget of Montenegro – equal to the detriment they caused.

As a mitigating factor, the judge Ljiljana Popovic said that no one of the convicted had been earlier sentenced, that they were people who had children and that she believed the sentence would prevent them from committing the same or similar offence. Health condition of some of the convicted persons also influenced imposing a minimum sentence.
