Former high-ranking DPS official Svetozar Marovic is allowed use his property, whereas his son Milos is not. This was decided by the Podgorica High Court, which accepted Marovic’s attorney Dimitrije Dapcevic’s appeal against the decision of investigative judge banning the alienation, encumbrance and use of his property, the High Court confirmed to CdM.
Thus the temporary ban on the disposal of the property has been abolished.
The appeal related to the ban related to Milos Marovic’s property has been rejected and the ban is still valid.
As a reminder, the High Court temporarily seized the entire property of Svetozar Marovic, his wife Djordjina, his son Milos and his family.
The court accepted the request of the Special State Prosecutor’s Office to freeze the property until the results of the financial investigation were announced. The property includes numerous apartments, houses and land that were acquired by criminal activities.
The Prosecutor’s Office required seizure of Marovic’s land in Prijevor, an apartment in Budva, an apartment registered as his wife’s property, as well as an apartment and business premises of his brother in law.
Interpol Podgorica issued arrest warrant against Svetozar because he has been sentenced to one year in prison over participating in embezzlements related to reselling the municipal land in the village of Prijevor above the Jaz beach.
Milos and Svetozar Marovic are still in Belgrade. Milos has the status of a free citizen there. He has ceased to be a citizen of Montenegro and is now officially a citizen of Serbia.
Milos submitted a request to the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro to serve his prison sentence in Serbia. However, from the ministry earlier said he was obliged to serve the sentence in Montenegro.
According to the plea bargain Milos signed with the Prosecutor’s Office on 30 December last year, in addition to the prison sentence, he also accepted to pay €380,000 to the state.
The court issued his sentence at the end of July, after it had accepted the plea agreement in this case.
