Tabloids were looking for controversial painter in Dubrovnik, but she was in Podgorica

Attorney of Danijela Kisic-Petrovic (65), lawyer Danilo Micovic, denied the allegations made by some media outlets that announced that his client charged with illegal possession of weapons left the country and was hiding in Croatia. Micovic told Dnevne Novine that such allegations were untrue, and that Kisic-Petrovic had appeared at the Basic Court in Podgorica yesterday.

“She was at the Basic Court in Podgorica yesterday, at the invitation of judge Miladin Pejovic, who returned her to certain documents that had been seized during the search. My client has been released on bail and she is ready to be held responsible for what she is accused of,” Micovic said.

Kisic-Petrovic was arrested on 17 December after police searched her house in Bar and found a weapons arsenal. The Police Directorate explained that they searched the painter and her son Kristofor Petrovic’s house, acting in accordance with the operational data that a murder was being prepared in Bar.

The police searched and seized a Heckler gun, a Scorpion submachine gun, a revolver of an unknown brand containing seven bullets, over 2,000 pieces of various ammunition, a balaclava, handcuffs, a gas pistol, weapons cleaning equipment… However, despite alleged operational intelligence, Kisic-Petrovic is only suspected of the illegal possession of weapons and explosive materials.

Before she was granted a bail, the investigating judge, after she acknowledged that the weapons was hers ordered remanding her in custody for up to 30 days due to the risk of fleeing. She claimed than that the weapons had belonged to her late cousin, the JNA officer who had lived as a refugee in her house.
