Rapporteur of the European Parliament for Montenegro, Charles Tannock, is an ardent advocate of the expansion of the EU to the West Balkans. In an interview for „Pobjeda“, he says he would be very happy if our country became EU Member State before 2025, adding that wartime in this region had passed.
„I think there’s no point talking about wars in Balkans. Obviously, there are some tensions in the region, but I also believe that there’s a strong will among people to move forward and to overcome conflicts, which are part of the past now“, says Tannock.
The current EU approach to the Governments of West Balkans is the right one, he thinks.
„The EU showed great dedication to the expansion policy in the region of West Balkans. It’s about encouraging and supporting governments in implementing reforms, in order to fulfill the objectives of the EU accession“ , adds Tannock.
