Good morning! Montenegrin fans delighted Bosnians and Herzegovinians with two gestures; a large amount of cigarettes was seized in Bar; abuses of forced administration are being prepared in Budva and people are attacking because of the state flag; Abazovic is going to Kiev.
Cheese borek
Last night, Montenegrin fans provoked Bosnians by chanting “Cheese Borek”. Bosnians are very sensitive to this topic, because in Bosnia, the homeland of borek, “borek is always filled only with meat”. Everything else that is made in the Balkans and is called borek filled with cheese, mushrooms, poppy seeds, cherries and Nutella – are all pies, if you ask Bosnians. I would not go into further details because Dragan Bursac explained in his latest column how important last night’s “provocation” of Montenegrin fans was, and why it represents a discontinuity with previous hysterical nationalist cheers at matches typical of some Balkan countries.
The mayors of the two capitals of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, Ivan Vukovic and Benjamina Karic, respectively, also joked about this.
However, not everything was so ideal outside the stadium, because the fan van burned down. It is up to the police to determine whether it was set on fire and how it happened, but the fundraising action by Ultras Montenegro should be commended. Details about the action and the account number to which you can make donations can be found here.
Cigarettes seized
Eight containers were seized in the Port of Bar, containing approximately 4,000 packages of cigarettes, worth about €3.5m, the Revenue and Customs Administration announced. The owner of the cigarettes is the Lenira International company, associated with the Playmaker company.
On the occasion of the latest cigarette seizure, Interior Minister Filip Adzic spoke out and said that this action was a new blow to the tobacco mafia, and that Montenegro seized more cigarettes than any country in Europe.
The owner of the Playmaker forwarding company, Djordjije Pavicevic, told the RTCG portal that the cigarettes seized by the Revenue and Customs Administration in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior were legally reported to the Free Zone of the Port of Bar. He stated that the owners of cigarettes will hire lawyers and start a process with the goal of defending their rights and property.
Poor Budva
Marko Carevic and DF do not stop raping Budva with their combinations. Let us remind you, Carevic and DF lost the trust of the local parliament, and due to non-functioning, a forced administration was introduced. The board of five commissioners takes care of the administration and performs the function of the parliament. So far, the board has returned Carevic’s illegal decisions, but has not taken on the responsibility of removing the mayor from office while NGOs accuse him of corruption.
However, the biggest abuse would happen if the Board of Commissioners supported Carevic’s political decisions, such as the one to appoint his successor as the candidate for mayor of Budva on behalf of DF. If this Mexican-style “Dedazo” in which Carevic points his finger at his successor is supported by the Board of Commissioners, there will be a well-founded suspicion that any commissioner who raises his hand for such a decision is an accomplice in political corruption in the city administration.
At the same time, DF has made Budva a place where the youth has radicalized, so for the second time they are trying to burn the flag, not out of anti-systemic protests or leftist and anarchist motives, but for reasons of Serbian nationalism.
Abazovic in Kiev
Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic has accepted the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to visit the capital of Ukraine, the Government announced after the President of Ukraine invited Abazovic to visit Kiev during teir telephone conversation.
As he announced, Abazovic will launch the idea of a joint visit of prime ministers from the Western Balkans, especially NATO countries from the region, to Kiev, with the aim of sending a stronger and more unique message of support from the Western Balkans to Ukraine’s sovereignty and integrity.
That’s all for today. We wish you a pleasant rest of the day.
Kind regards,
