Ten to Eight – Cleaning hogpen

You are reading a daily contextual review of the news that marked the previous weekend.

By Ljubomir Filipović, CdM observer

As time goes on, this Government will be in growing trouble. It will be increasingly difficult for ministers to hide their ideological background, and that is why they will continue to get rid of problematic cadres in order to preserve their seats. It was the turn of Minister Vesna Bratic’s ministry, which we called the Chetnik hogpen several times without exaggeration. Although she defended the bully Vladimir Vukovic after his attack on Nebojsa Sofranc, making fun of the situation then, she had to end her cooperation with him yesterday. Vukovic wrote his support for Ratko Mladic on Facebook and provoked a reaction from both the pro-government media and the ruling URA, which was followed by the Ministry’s reaction. However, Vukovic is just the tip of the iceberg, and someone who did not hesitate to express his views publicly.

Ms Bratic, in accordance with her ideology, hires a huge number of people with similar profiles, at management and operational positions. Bearing in mind that this is a ministry that deals primarily with education, and that we increasingly see nationalist outbursts from schools, then it will be clear to you that the minister has an agenda and that it is already giving results. DPS MP Predrag Boskovic, once the education minister, warned that Vukovic is only one in a sea of such personnel. SDP MP Draginja Vuksanovic Stankovic pointed out that Minister Bratic had to resign. After the dismissal of the closest associates, it was announced yesterday that Ms Bratic fired both her bodyguard and the driver who she hired outside the state institutions responsible for the protection of persons.

Consciousness awakening

When a part of the public before and after the elections warned of the danger of forming such a government, the pro-government media and intellectual circles close to them were characterized as Montenegrin extremists. We were called mercenaries, it was said that we were imagining Chetniks, that we were exaggerating with the criticism of the new government, without turning too much to the past (which is a lie), etc. As time passes and everyone loses more and more hope, with a delay of a year, many now realize that what we warned about was a real danger. The statements of analysts and the texts of the columnists in Vijesti are starting to irresistibly resemble what, let’s say, Andrej Nikolaidis writes. They steal our bread, they take over the niche. All joking aside, it’s good that this is happening. Yesterday, I saw the analysis of political scientist Predrag Zenovic for Nova M, but also the comment of sociologist Andrija Djukanovic for Free Europe. Extremism can no longer be unseen by any normal person. Focusing the pro-government media on the opposition and the people who are protesting now is the wrong approach. If there is no action, there is no reaction. If ministers like Leposavic, Bratic, Stijovic, and other officials like Nevenka Cirovic Boskovic from the Democrats, Becanovic from URA and the like, did not provoke the public with their policies and appearances, there would be no fierce reactions from the other side.

Government’s silence on the verdict against Ratko Mladic

As the whole world buzzes about the verdict, our authorities are pretending to be dead. My colleague Miras Dusevic noticed the government’s silence on the decision of the court in The Hague yesterday:

“While the government is silent on what the world has condemned, a graf’iti in Tivat says that the glorification of convicted war criminals has not stopped and that the idea and followers of that idea are alive. On the facade of a building, it says: ‘My Mladic, your problem is that you are a Serbian hero’. This is a message that resonates with warnings.” You can read the full comment by Mr Dusevic here.

My colleagues from the 21. Mas Civic Initiative also warned of the government keeping silent.

While keeping silent, the Democrats are revising the Resolution on Srebrenica. It’s painful.

Stop for Malagurski

The latest propaganda work of the pro-Kremlin and pro-Serbian activist Boris Malagurski, in which he pours lies about Montenegro, will not be shown in Tivat, thanks to the intervention of citizens who put pressure on the SDP, which maintains the pro-government power in Tivat.

That’s it for today. We wish you a pleasant rest of the day.
