Ten to Eight – Fuel Price Hitting €2

Good morning! The price of oil derivatives hitting record highs, Pedja Boskovic talked about the political requirements for providing support to Abazovic’s government, Joanikije’s sermon echoes in domestic and international circles, who are Russian extremists based in Montenegro.

Yesterday, I wrote about the freedom of speech and the Kremlin war propaganda in Montenegro.

Fuel price hitting €2

The price of fuel is still not €2 but will be. The cost of all fuel types will go up by 16 cent, so a liter of Eurosuper 98 will cost €1.78 and Eurosuper 95 €1.74. A liter of Eurodiesel will be costlier by as much as 29 cent and will cost €1.74 in the next 15 days. A liter of heating oil will also be sold at a higher price and will cost €1.67, which is 25 cent more expensive than now.

The fuel prices are being used to put an additional pressure on the DF and the Democrats, to unblock the work of parliament thus reducing the excise tax on fuel. By reducing state revenues from oil derivatives, the impact of the fuel price rise will alleviate costs for citizens. Democrats at the protests say that it’s called “bidon politics” and say that there is no parliament’s session “because of five liters of fuel and five euros per household offered by URA”. The SDP is trying to launch protests in support of the government’s initiative, but so far only a dozen of their officials and activists have responded.

Last preps for the new govt

In a response to MP Nimanbegu, Abazovic says that the election reform and preparations for the elections are one of the government’s priorities. Speaking in a TV show hosted by Tamara Nikcevic, Pedja Boskovic listed some other priorities set as a condition for his party’s support: the security sector, health care, unblocking the EU accession process and economic policy.

Nik Djeljosaj spoke about the urgency of convening the parliament’s session and that everything had already been agreed.

Echoes of Joanikije’s sermon

Joanikije’s sermon on Ukraine has stirred tensions across Montenegro since Sunday, and was heard in diplomatic circles in both Montenegro and beyond. Many were shocked but it’s not clear why. It’s just the continuation of the old policy, when they were telling us that Ukraine would be Russia again and so on. You can find about the echoes of his sermon in a report of the Radio Free Europe.

Reactions of the Ukrainians on the statements of Serbian priests are particularly important these days. From those celebrating Kadyrov to Joanikije’s statement. It’s why I recommend you to watch the show ‘Drugacija radio veza’ (eng. Different Radio Connection) hosting the charge d’affaires of the Ukrainian Embassy in Podgorica, Natalija Fijalka.

How come there’s the ‘Male State’ group in Montenegro?

Bellingcat and Jutarnji List reveal that Russian extremists are in Montenegro. We don’t find about it from the National Security Agency, the media, investigative journalists or a bunch of money invested in the development of the media. But that’s another story.

It’s an extremist group and even the Russian court declared them undesirable in 2020. After that, they came to Montenegro.

Today, the CdM portal will talk to the Canadian journalist and researcher, Michael Colborne, who follows these extremists and who discovered they’re in Montenegro.

Priest Marojevic leaves the University’s GB

Following today’s online session of the Governing Board of the University of Montenegro, which confirmed mandate to Nikola Marojevic, he resigned as member of the University’s GB, for personal reasons, as stated in the written justification.

That’s all for today. Until tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Ljubomir Filipovic, CdM observer
