Ten to Eight – Insults, prevented fights and Brcvak’s Lesson

You are reading a daily contextual review of the news that marked the previous weekend.

Insults (state of ruling coalition’s disintegration)

Over the weekend, the PM removed Marina Jocic from the position of the president of the National Parks steering committee, after she called him a “traitorous dumbo”. He brought the correspondent of the Russian Sputnik to the same position, which is a proof that Zdravko Krivokapic is changing people, but not strategic directions. In light of the increasingly fierce confrontation and pointing fingers at each other, the question arose as to whether this could be a drop in the bucket, or a sign that the PM had read a bluff by the Democratic Front (DF) that must not take a serious step towards his dismissal. The Democrats therefore called on the DF to finally overthrow the Government. If the PM was smart, he would now take advantage of the DF’s weakness and start slowly clearing the Government of its staff at management and operational positions, because no matter how much concessions were made and are employed at the expense of the people, they continue to demand even more. Medojevic and Jocic, Knezevic and the young MP Nikola Bajcetic, who said that the PM served the “gay satanic sect”, continue to insult even now. Due to this last Bajcetic’s statement, the protectors of human rights also reacted, among the first being Aleksandar Sasa Zekovic.

Prevented fight

At the session of the Defense and Security Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro, there was almost a physical confrontation between special state prosecutor Milivoje Katnic and MP of the Right Montenegro Marko Milacic, after Katnic called Milacic a “stinky-poop”. The disgusting scene of Milacic trying to physically attack Katnic toured the region.

Election of the Prosecutorial Council postponed

At the very end of the election of new members of the Prosecutorial Council, which was planned for the Parliament sitting that ended on 31 July, there was a change in the plan, mostly after warnings from outside partners, the last of which was a direct address by German Ambassador Weber. The DF and URA ignored external pressures, but the Democrats decided to be constructive and will wait until the autumn to see if a broader social consensus can be reached on the appointment of new members of this body. URA is increasingly showing that its closest partner in the coalition is DF, so with a statement in thelast moment, it showed that it is familiar with ignoring the well-intentioned advice of the Western partners. DPS MP Papovic and SDP MP Konjevic commented on the symptomatic behavior of URA related to this particular case.

Budva Chronicle

Budva DPS found Bato Carevic’s thesis and expresses doubts about its authenticity. In his scientific work, Mr Carevic deals with how packaging affects “capricious Bosnian-Herzegovinian consumers”. Apart from this, the news that the Government has given the green light to build the Temple in Budva has not met the enthusiasm of the local public, which has many other and more important priorities than the temple – a hospital for example, or the reconstruction of ruined schools.

Brcvak’s lesson

Despite all the insults and humiliation of the diaspora, the ruling majority decided to gather these people in Bijelo Polje. Humanist Hajriz Brcvak, during the event called Days of Diaspora – Emigrants, organised in Bijelo Polje on Friday night, held a lesson for the state leadership led by PM Zdravko Krivokapic. He told them to give up, as he said, unconstitutional provisions of the Law on Citizenship and Residence because the diaspora is an inalienable part of Montenegro.

Epidemiology

We have learned that the epidemic is accompanied by infodemic. Every 1 in 5 citizens of Montenegro, i.e. 20% of the population, believes in conspiracy theories about vaccines. This was shown by a survey conducted in March this year by the Ipsos agency, on a nationally representative sample. The survey was conducted with the support of the British Embassy in Podgorica and UNICEF. The survey indicates that trust in science, healthcare institutions and professionals is key to public health. Therefore, the behavior of epidemiologists, like Milena Popovic Samardzic, who justify giving the wrong vaccine, must be condemned.

Born to Delay

The Air Montenegro plane was out of order again and several flights were delayed. Air Montenegro called to justify itself, but more to the public than to its passengers.

That’s it for today. See you tomorrow in the same place and at the same time.
