Jakov Milatovic’s Nepotism
My colleague Miras Dusevic does not miss any opportunity to point out the rudeness of young messianic leaders, who use the cheapest populism in order to stay in power for as long as possible and employ their loved ones. The wife of the Minister of Economic Development, Jakov Milatovic, Milena, has been appointed director of the Sector for Finance and Economic Affairs at CGES. She replaced Jovan Gosovic in that position, who is Minister Milatovic’s friend, and many claim that they are in godfather relations. Gosovic now manages the finance sector in Montenegro Works.
Milatovic is not the only one who has employed his family members. Branko Radulovic, Bozena Jelusic, Dragan Krapovic and Nikola Rovcanin, are just some of the names on the Top List of Nepotists, which we will obviously have to introduce as a column on the CdM.
Year of Government – Conference
Yesterday, the Prime Minister and the ministers prepared presentations of their performance in the last year. Someone did it like a nerd, and someone did a self-promotion. Unlike earlier bombastic conferences, which burst with forced energy and optimism, this one was very melancholic and depressing. In fact, it seemed to be the result of a hangover after celebrating Sunday’s “victory” in local elections, where government representatives won a total of 10% of the vote through their two lists. You read that right – 10%. I am not talking about the ruling majority, but the government, which had URA’s list and the list of Prime Minister – WE Won’t Give Up On Mojkovac. In that hangover, the Prime Minister permuted the name of the party of his most loyal MP Marko Milacic, and renamed Pravedna (Right) to Pozitivna (Positive) Montenegro. If this is a sign of something, it remains to be seen.
But let’s return to the content of the conference, which you can see in detail in this text. The Prime Minister talked about how they were the hosts and how they took care of each of us, Dritan bragged about how he defeated the mafia, the Minister of Health about how she won the pandemic, while Bojanic spoke about how there was no party-affiliated employments. This is as true as any truth coming from them.
The situation in the ruling coalition
We are waiting for another Friday and another last ultimatum of the DF, Medojevic says that it would be the destruction of Montenegro to vote for Spajic’s laws, Spajic says that Medojevic is enough for himself.
The Prime Minister calls the opposition “Group 40” and dehumanizes all those who would eventually join them. “We against them” discourse has heated up. He literally says “there is no MAN” who can join them. Textbook example of dehumanization. The government is the people, the opposition is the non-people. He thus hopes to keep the reluctant coalition in power after Friday.
How Bratic disciplines journalists
Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vesna Bratic did not want to specifically answer the question of the journalists yesterday, as she commented on the survey of the Center for Civic Education (CGO), according to which the ministry she heads received the lowest grade. Bratic said that she would answer when the journalist told her according to which methodology the CGO survey was considered relevant.
The CGO responded with a fierce attack on the minister, discrediting her as an expert.
DW does marketing services for the Prime Minister
Miodrag Soric is a fan and activist of the Church of Serbia and a high official of the German state television Deutsche Welle. He is the head of the global network of correspondents for this company, and uses his position to wash his biography and provide services to improve the image of the Montenegrin prime minister. Hence this kind of misinformative work which contains a huge amount of information specially designed to lead to a wrong conclusion.
Why did Damjanovic lose his job?
The dismissed acting director of the Revenue and Customs Administration Aleksandar Damjanovic said that he was not explained why his mandate was not extended, and that the Minister of Finance and Social Welfare, Milojko Spajic, offered him a ministerial position in the potentially reshuffled government.
