Ten to Eight – Joco Markus’ celebration

Good morning! Last night, SDP, URA, Danilo Mrvaljevic, Joco Markus and Milan Knezevic celebrated the ‘liberation’ of Cetinje. Members and supporters of the SDP are leaving the party, Konatar and Sehovic discussed the minority government, Djukanovic didn’t endorse holding elections in one day, an interesting interview with Luksic.

Joco Markus’ celebration

Danilo Mrvaljevic, the Leader of the Cetinje Democrats and Director of the National Archives, conducted the choir of the LSCG Old Guard last night, while former mayor, Joco Markus, celebrated at home, sharing it a hundred times on social media. Joco rejoices, Milan Knezevic as well while congratulating the Democrats and URA on the “fraternal cooperation”, which he wishes to see at the state level as well.

In the assembly, in the winning euphoria, URA’s councilor criticized “Montenegrin”, after which they repeated the celebration once again after election night.

The SDP and the DPS as well made this all possible. The DPS run the city catastrophically badly, which was an excuse for the SDP to justify its collaboration with the forces that landed on Cetinje in September last year. But if that’s the only justification and excuse for the SDP, then they’re not different from URA from August 2020. The question is what the SDP would have done if it had been on the scales at the state level a year and a half ago. Would URA then be the Old Guard of the LSCG with which the SDP would form a “Montenegrin government” with the minority support of the DF and the Democrats if the DPS refused to give them the prime minister? The SDP is now spinning that there was no agreement with URA and Democrats, and that this is just a coalition of two blocs although a young DPS official Klikovac was attacked last week for lying when he said that the SDP was negotiating with the Democrats.

Milena Vujacic of the Old Guard of the LSCG was appointed president of the Assembly of the Old Royal Capital. It was nice to see that the candidates of both the newly formed coalition and the DPS were women, in a country where all 23 mayors are men. And that was the only nice thing last night.

Yesterday we discussed that this is the end of the story about the Montenegrin bloc, but at least we know what the vote for the SDP will mean in the Podgorica local elections. Celebration of Dajkovic, to say the least.

Some SDP members on social media are already posting cutout membership cards. And Cetinje residents who supported them are leaving. Disappointed that personal ambitions prevailed, Vukan Cavor, a native of Cetinje from New Zealand, withdrew his support, and before him, the candidate for councilor Mirko Jovovic did the same.

Local elections can’t be held on same day

The President returned yesterday to the parliament the Law on Amendments to the Law on Local Self-Government, which his own party passed along with URA, envisaging local elections to be held on the same day in several municipalities. Having in mind that Djukanovic called for the Ulcinj and Berane elections before the adoption of the law, it comprised unconstitutional norms and was returned to re-examination.

Interview of former Prime Minister (not Zdravko)

In an interview for ‘Drugacija Radio Veza’ on Antena M, the former Montenegrin Prime Minister, Igor Luksic, spoke about the fundamental agreement, the legacy of Zdravko Krivokapic’s cabinet and the chances of a minority government, as well as the Europe Now and Open Balkans projects.

Negotiations of SD and URA over minority govt

The Social Democrats and the Civic Movement URA discussed the minority government yesterday. Damir Sehovic and Boris Mugosa of the SD met with Milos Konatar and Mileta Radovanic of URA. “On that occasion, they discussed the program of the future government as well as its eventual structure,” the SD tweeted.

That’s all for today. Have a nice day.

Kind regards,

Ljubomir Filipovic, CdM observer
