Good morning. You’re reading a daily contextual review of the news that marked the previous day.
Spreading panic
By reading the report of Radio Free Europe on potential risks of the enthronement of Serbian Metropolitan Joanikije II in Cetinje, I came across the claim of lawyer Dalibor Kavaric about the preps for terrorist acts in Cetinje on September 4, so I went to his Facebook profile and had a lot to see. In a public post, this man, among other things, states the following: “Several criminals, i.e. persons of interest to security, have already been prepared for this event and their task is to use weapons and commit terrorist attacks with an ultimate goal of destabilizing Montenegro, causing panic, disorder and insecurity, and there’s another ultimate goal – to forcibly prevent the legal and canonical act of enthronement of the elected Metropolitan Joanikije Micovic.”
The DPS reacted, as Kavaric mentioned them as the real organizers of the protest, and announced a lawsuit. If only we were lucky, the prosecution would invite the citizen Kavaric for talks ex officio. And after determining whether he invented this or not, the prosecution would arrest the alleged planners of the terrorist act, or him personally for spreading panic.
After reading the article of Kacusa Krsmanovic about the state of play in the ANB, I thought that it was very possible that Kavaric received this information or misinformation from people close to Dejan Vuksic. But let him see about it with the prosecutor when and if he/she invites him for talks.
Soap opera ‘Fundamental Agreement’
While we’re trying to understand who amended what and where, we found out yesterday that Deputy Prime Minister Abazovic lied to us when he promised that we’d know about the content of the fundamental agreement once he gets to see it. Yesterday we found out that he knew about it and even amended it, but we still know nothing about it and may only guess. The Serbian Patriarchate humiliated our Prime Minister by revealing that the text of the agreement had already been agreed. They themselves don’t know what they’re telling, but we only know that they lie to us. This should particularly affect those 15% of Cetinje residents who voted for URA, and now are most likely regretting it.
Soap opera ‘Census’
Just as Andrija Mandic threatened that there would not be a government without the census, we learned soon after that the adoption of the proposal for the Census Law is scheduled for 26 August. MP Bozena Jelusic immediately reacted to explain to us it’s an ordinary issue. It was enough to awaken people who believed that URA could be a factor of stability and a mechanism for control over its coalition partners.
Decline in number of SPC worshippers
A professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Olivera Komar, shared on Twitter the outcome of the latest questionnaire (July 2021) showing that nearly 43% of Orthodox population in Montenegro see themselves as a part of the Serbian Orthodox Church, 21% of them belong to the Montenegrin Orthodox Church, while 35% “choose none of them”.
Serious accusations against Democrats’ official
The vice-president of the Democrats’ municipal board in Berane, Janko Stavljenic, was apprehended for taking pictures of minors, the police unofficially told the CdM portal. “Information was collected from him. All materials were submitted to the state prosecutor for further evaluation and opinion”, the police said.
Dismissals for telling truth in the Budva Health Center
Chief Nurse in the Budva Health Center, Ljubinka Vukovic, who told several days ago that their hospital was close to collapse due to Covid-19, resigned, CdM has learned. According to CdM sources, she had to do it after being pressured for her statements by the management of the Health Center, that is, Minister Jelena Borovinic Bojovic. The resignation followed after Vukovic told the public that the Budva Health Center was close to collapse due to the number of infections, and that half of them are tourists.
That’s all for today. Enjoy your weekend.
