Ten to Eight – With Vesna Bratic against Two Extremisms

You are reading a daily contextual review of the news that marked the previous day.

By Ljubomir Filipovic, CdM observer

Zeljko Ivanovic’s nebulous narrative about two extremisms was proved by yesterday’s statement by Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic about how the Christian Democratic Party will be the main means for fighting against them. Like any empty and unfounded narrative, this one managed to come to its complete banalization because imagine that Vesna Bratic, who I presume would be the deputy leader of the Christian Democratic Party, tells us about tolerance and coexistence. Or imagine Vladimir Bozovic, a chancellor from IN4S doing that. In addition, the Prime Minister has been “thinking” about forming a party for a year now. When Zex Ivanovic taught him to found it last autumn, he was the most popular politician in Montenegro, now he is the most hated. Secondly, the DF and the Democrats will not give him a part of the electorate. Thirdly, my sincere benevolent advice to him would be to join the Democrats with all his experts.

DF is already in Government

The whole drama was about the DF not entering the government. I don’t understand what the problem is? Symbolism? The DF is already in the Government. Milan Knezevic heads the parliamentary Defense and Security Committee, and DF staff manages our strategic companies and organizations: EPCG, Pljevlja’s Rudnik Uglja coal mining company, Forest Directorate, the Coastal Water Supply company, Zeljeznica railway company… In addition, is the DF really the most extreme Serbian option in the Government, because some of the fiercest pro-Russian and pro-Serbian leaders are not in the DF but are closer to PM Krivokapic – starting from the Minister of Health, through Bratic, the University chancellor, the Minister of Capital Investments to the Minister of Agriculture – all of them are members of the radical ideology, only now they have been advised to calm down a bit. For that reason, this struggle and diplomatic pressure from all sides seems a bit absurd to me. The only solution is elections, and a transitional government that would bring the state into them.

We slightly violated the Constitution and laws

The Minister of Defense finally agreed to give an interview, even to Petar Komnenic. In addition to admitting that the law and the Constitution were violated by mistake, the Minister directly accused prosecutor Lidija Mitrovic that two hours after her son was informed that he had not received a scholarship to study in Greece, she sent a Special Police Team to serve a summons for an urgent hearing. The Minister did not want to talk about the Govt. reshuffle, she did not want to talk about the role of Marko Milacic in the events on 4 and 5 September in Cetinje, and she denied the information that she called police officials when Zoran Brdjanin was avoided in the same action.

Protest in front of KCCG

A protest of civil activists was held in front of the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG), which, as it was emphasized, was motivated by the critical situation and the number of deaths from the consequences of the coronavirus.

Aleksandar Sekulic, Director General for Digital Health at the Ministry of Health, said the following about the protest: “You escaped from social networks where your chase failed, and as ladies today you are trying to insult a woman who taught you a lot of lessons, primarily the heroic ones”.

Interrogation of Canak in relation to Cetinje

The leader of the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV), Nenad Canak, said that he received an invitation to report to the Novi Sad police at the request of the Montenegrin Ministry of Internal Affairs. Canak told Happy TV that he did not know why he received the summons for questioning, but that he assumed that it had “some connection” with his stay in Cetinje, during the enthronement of Metropolitan Joanikije.

Now Airport concession is a good thing

Although the current Government opposed the concession agreements for the Airports of Montenegro (ACG) while the opposition, that has obviously changed. Minister of Capital Investments Mladen Bojanic said that he was satisfied with the plans of potential concessionaires: “Everyone has expressed interest, and these are renowned companies”, said Bojanic.

That’s it for today and for this week. See you again on Monday.
