Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism has issued urban and technical requirements for the reconstruction of the existing building of the passenger terminal and business and administrative building of the air port in Podgorica.
These requirements are the guidelines for the construction of the facility and will be valid in the next six months.
Afterwards, within 60 days, Airports, are supposed to obtain construction permit. UNDP has been engaged as expert consultant which will provide public procurement for the construction of the terminal.
The future facility will have a ground floor and a floor, with maximum height of 45 meters above the terrain level and with gross area of 20.710 square meters.
Local Study of the Location, carried out by MonteCEP from Kotor, states that the Master Plan for Airport development defines a volume of 940 passengers per hour. In 2030, it will be even 1.270 passengers.
However, it isn’t possible to provide long-term development of the airport in Podgorica. It’s possible to consider only the possibilities of its development for the next 5 years.
“The suggestion is that the first phase of the terminal be extended by 12.500 square meters towards the northern side of the existing facility”, reads the study.
According to the guidelines, the facility must enable unhindered access and movement to the disabled persons or persons with reduced mobility, that it has to be built from the material resistant to the strikes of the exhaust from the plane motors and not harmful to the environment, to provide energy efficiency with high level of heat isolation. Also, the heating, ventilation and cooling system should be combined with the renewable energy resources.
