Good morning! There’s no doubt – the president of Serbia is an autocrat. A talented autocrat. His geopolitical games are paying off. The man has the support and affection of all global actors, even those currently on the warring sides.
The genius of Vucic
I read some memoirs of a successful self-governing Yugoslav director a long time ago. I wrote this based on my memory, so it’s possible that I mixed some details and actors. Gosa Smederevo made wagons for trains. A war was raging between Iraq and Iran. The Iraqis came to visit the factory facilities, and there some genius forgot to cover the wagons with freshly written Iranian markings. One of Saddam’s officials then jokingly said “it doesn’t matter anyway, we will destroy it for them when it arrives”. Mostly, from SDPR to Namenska, Yugoslavia exported tons of weapons. Most of the conflicts in the territory that we now call the ‘Global South’ were supplied with Yugoslav weapons. SFRY often armed all sides in the conflict. Wicked tongues were saying it was the reason why karma and nothing else that hit Yugoslavia in 1991.
It seems that diplomacy by using weapons still works. That is one of the possible explanations why the wife of the Ukrainian president is visiting a country where the elected government is full of Russian agents. The government that sponsors media and propaganda destroying her country. The government of a country that cherishes such a strong anti-Ukrainian sentiment that it mobilizes the largest number of foreign fighters for the occupation of its country.
Well done, Vucic. He keeps us all trapped in his anachronistic delusion. Until that delusion becomes reality. His and Putin’s. Vucic thinks the same thing about his neighbors in the region that Putin thinks about his. And he would do everything to us that Putin does to his neighbors, if it weren’t for NATO. By conventional means. Hybrid attacks are not a problem for him. Just look at the pressure the government in Podgorica is under, in order not to support the Srebrenica resolution. See how, with the help of the SPC and the media, hype is being created in public opinion for Spajic to give in and use the eventual rejection of the amendment as an excuse not to back the Srebrenica resolution.
The visit of the First Lady of Ukraine and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba happened after the visit of the Chinese President, who chose Serbia as one of the three destinations in his European tour.
We have spoken many times about the public opinion bubble in Serbia, so indoctrinated that the opposition media and organizations are forced to compete in anti-Westernism and Serbian nationalism. And that’s why they all turn out to be funny. Vucic “does not give Kosovo” and he is doing quite well in sabotaging Kosovo’s foreign policy.
The SPC is a servant of the regime, as long as the regime does not cross the red lines drawn by the Kremlin.
On the other hand, it is tolerated that Serbia does not impose sanctions against Russia, as it recognizes the territorial integrity of Ukraine. And he does it not for the sake of others, but for himself. According to the recipe, Crimea for Kosovo.
Vucic is campaigning for Expo. He builds Serbia both vertically and horizontally. Multidimensional. And makes it wider. It is a matter of days when they will force the Montenegrin government to complete submissiveness.
Assertiveness and aggressiveness work. And the willingness to take risks. The good thing is that any autocracy depends solely on the autocrat and is limited by the limitations of human existence. Without Vucic, all this illusion of a strong and stable Serbia would fall to pieces. Montenegro is the best example of the infallibility of this political axiom.
