From the beginning of the year, the state has spent 8,996 euro to destroy illegally built objects, a chief construction inspector, Slađan Raičković, told Dnevne Novine daily.

“Budget funds allocated for costs of the enforcement of decisions are scarcely spent. The problem would be solved by setting up a company whose founder will be the Government, with the aim of reducing costs of enforcement, and therefore increasing the number of removed objects for a certain amount of money in the budget. In this regard, last year, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism proposed establishing a limited liability company – Protection of Montenegro’s territory,“ Mr Raičković explained.

A TOTAL OF 174 CONTROLS

According to him, inspectors carried out 174 inspection controls since the begging of the year. As for the last year, 37 illegally buildings were ruined. In addition, throughout the whole year, inspectors conducted 2,662 inspection controls, of which 820 were regular controls, 1,148 of them were carried out upon initiatives and 694 were inspection controls.

GOALS FOR THIS YEAR

As for this year, Mr Raičković added, the main goal of the construction inspection will be to perform inspection control on construction sites. There’s a novelty in this regard – inspectors will be checking whether there’s a construction product declaration.

“Inspectors will carry out controls of illegally built buildings, and will check whether certain objects are being built in line with the main project based on which the construction was approved,” concluded Mr Raičković.
