The trade union consumer basket (SPK) for the second quarter of 2025 (April, May and June) amounts to €2.010, which is by 0.50% higher, i.e. by €10 compared to the first quarter of 2025, the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro has stated.
According to them, “the latest research of the Centre for Education, Information and Trade Union Research shows that two average salaries are necessary to cover the trade union consumer basket, which is the minimum standard of living for a four-member household in Montenegro”.
The SPK is calculated based on ten cost categories, with changes recorded in two of them during the second quarter of 2025.
“The cost of food items rose by €15 (2.44%) compared to the previous quarter, now standing at €630. It’s the second quarter in a row that this cost category records the increase (4th quarter of 2024 – €585, 1st quarter of 2025 – €615),” the statement says.
The Union of Free Trade Unions adds housing and utility costs have decreased by €5 (2%) compared to the first quarter of 2025, when they amounted to €250 per month.
