Trade between Montenegro and Turkey improved

Trade between Montenegro and Turkey has been steadily increasing, as shown by the fact that since 2014, it has increased from €39m to more than €93m in 2017, economy minister Dragica Sekulic said at today’s meeting with representatives of the Committee of Foreign Affairs and Economic Relations of Turkey.

“The number of Turkish companies in Montenegro is growing and their overall effect on the growth of the Montenegrin economy is increasingly evident. Toschelik is one of the companies of great importance for the economy of Montenegro,” Sekulic said.

Turkish Ambassador to Montenegro Serhat Gulip pointed out that both small and large companies from Turkey are active in Montenegro, and that they are mostly interested in investments in the sectors of energy, agriculture and infrastructure.

Negotiations between Montenegro and Turkey on the changes to the Free Trade Agreement and further liberalisation of the agricultural product market are underway. As the officials assessed, they will significantly contribute to the increase in the foreign trade of the two countries.
