Two patients infected with coronavirus have been placed on a ventilator in the Clinical Center. There are 20 patients under treatment in the Clinical Center, 14 of whom are in a Clinic for Infectious Diseases and six in the Intensive care unit, said Dr Jevto Eraković, Director of the Clinical Center.
“Clinical Center is ready to respond to everything the present situation requires. We must adhere to recommendations. Number of patients on ventilators is increasing”, Mr Eraković said.
Tests for Covid-19 are over 90% reliable, doctor said.
Minister of Health, Mr Kenan Hrapović, and Mr Eraković stated that claims that Montenegro had been hiding information about the number of infected persons were false and malicious.
Dr Eraković says that such claims are aimed at destabilizing healthcare system.
Montenegro successful in overcoming challenges
“With 1006 samples analyzed, 123 confirmed cases, 6.375 persons under watch, we are entering serious phase. Everything Government and Ministry of Health have been doing for years is visible now. Today we must listen to the profession. We need citizens’ help. All the measures are for the protection of our citizens. When all this is a past, we’ll arrange everything”, Mr Hrapović said.
Dr Ranko Lazović, head of the Crisis Unit, said that condition of the patient from Nikšić “is not stable”.
He added that all contacts of the infected person had been examined.
106 ventilators
Currently, Montenegro disposes of 106 ventilators.
“Another five are expected to arrive today. That’s enough”, Dr Lazović said.

Dr Eraković says that cooperation with colleagues around the world is excellent.
“We’ve been praised for our work. American colleagues expressed interest in our work”, Dr Eraković pointed out.
We are entering critical phase
Minister Hrapović said that Montenegro was successful in overcoming coronavirus crisis.
“We must be aware that we are approaching critical phase”, Minister said.
Measures put in place on time
Dr Eraković says that adopted measures had impact on the prevention of the spread of coronavirus.
“I can tell we should be proud of the measures and everything Montenegro has done for its citizens”, doctor said.
Dr Lazović says that the first measures were taken before the first patient was reported.
