The capacity of the Ukrainian AN 32P aircraft is 8000 litres and the Swiss helicopter of 2,000 litres of water.

The Directorate added that an MI 17 helicopter (2,000 litres) from Bulgaria and Air Tractor Aircraft (3,000 litres) from Israel are expected to start participating in fire fighting campaign in Montenegro in the coming days.

As the Tivat airport’s spokeswoman Milica Babic told CdM, preparations for Ukrainian aircraft’s arrival were underway.

NATO spokesperson Piers Cazalet said that Ukraine sent Canadair fire-fighting plane to support Montenegro in dealing with wild fires through NATO Civil Emergency Response Mechanism.

Bulgaria, as a NATO ally and friend, is ready to help extinguish the fire in Montenegro, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said.

He told President Filip Vujanovic that Bulgaria was ready to immediately send a specialised fire fighting helicopter to intervene in the most critical places in Montenegro as of tomorrow.

Vujanovic thanked, pointing out that it was confirmation of closeness and friendship of the two countries.
