The Institute of Public Health has proposed to the Ministry of Health to amend the law in order to limit the stay of unvaccinated children in schools and kindergartens, or to introduce temporary measures in municipalities where a smallpox epidemic has been reported, Vijesti writes.
The Institute expects that the Ministry will take into account the suggestions and take urgent measures to reduce the risk of a large epidemic of smallpox, which has already been declared in Budva and Podgorica.
The Institute has told Vijesti that the coverage of vaccinated children cannot be improved significantly and quickly without changing the law that would limit children’s stay in schools and kindergartens.
It has explained that until the law is changed, special orders can be issued introducing temporary measures in municipalities where the epidemic has been declared.
