Up to 600 EUR for cancellation of the flight

There are many reasons why flights are late or even cancelled. Such situation often cause problems for the passengers. The majority of the passengers will ask themselves what will happen with the ticket they had bought – will they have to by the new one etc?

Representatives of the Civil Aviation Agency say that the rights of the passengers are regulated by the Law.

“The Law stipulates that the passenger submits his/her request to the airline carrier first. If the carrier or management of the Airport in some cases, fail to render decision upon the request within the 30 days deadline, the passenger has right to refer to the CAA for peaceful settlement of the dispute. In 2017, we had 10 such situations”, said from the CAA.

In case the flight is late or cancelled, airline carrier assumes responsibility and the passengers have right to claim compensation.

“Compensations in such cases can be up to 600 EUR”.

If the passengers are offered alternative flight, the carrier can reduce the compensation by 50% in case the arrival time does not exceed the previously scheduled arrival time.

In case the flight is cancelled, passengers have right to refunds or redirecting.

“If the flight was cancelled due to some unforeseen circumstances that the air carrier couldn’t avoid, then the carrier is not obliged to pay for the compensation”, said the representatives of the CAA.

Air carrier is obliged to provide help for the passenger in case of delays.
