The Administration for Maritime Safety and Port Management (UPSUL) has launched a brand new app allowing users at sea to call for help directly from their mobile phones, this state body has stated.
“For now, the SafeSea.me application can be downloaded from Google Play Store, but it will soon be available at the App Store as well. The goal is to provide the possibility for people at sea, whenever they’re in trouble, to use the application to call for help, as competent bodies would automatically get their location in order to search and rescue them. In any emergency, users can call 129 directly by using the app,” it’s said in a statement.
“In addition, users of the SafeSea.me app can report any violations in maritime transport thus contributing to a better safety at sea,” UPSUL has said.
