The United States calls on all “political leaders to support a tolerant and inclusive Montenegro, in which all citizens feel safe, regardless of ethnicity, religion or political affiliation.”
A State Department spokesman said that in a written response to the request of the Voice of America to comment on the election in Nikšić.
“The United States congratulates the Montenegrin people on the recent local elections in Nikšić.
Peaceful elections and voter turnout are an indicator of democratic maturity”, the State Department said.
