In an interview with Pobjeda daily, Veselin Veljović, head of the National Police, emphasized that efficiency of police operations is best proved with the fact that there are 72% of resolved criminal offences committed by the unknown perpetrators last year and also with the money-laundering disclosure in the amount of EUR 550 mil.
Veljović called in mind that the police have been one of the top three institutions the citizens mostly believe in, according to the research conducted recently.
Police officers, he added, discovered and seized 3.3 tons of drug and submitted by 6 per cent more criminal and 60 per cent minor offence charges against the individuals who were selling drugs, thus making it available for juveniles.
“We have improved cooperation with other relevant bodies and institutions, and also established the Operational Team for combating human trafficking which has initiated 4 investigations already,“ said Veljović.
Police profession is honorable and police officers need to have developed their personal and professional integrity, stressed Veljović.
