The two structures are the most demanding, not only on the Somokovac – Matesevo section, but within the entire Bar – Boljare highway.
The Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs submitted a request for issuing the construction permit for the Vjeternik tunnel on Monday, Pobjeda newspaper carried.
Works will include the construction of separate tubes running in opposite directions with a passageway interconnecting the two for rescue purposes.
Construction will be carried out according to plans by the lead project designer, Ting Ji Peng, and by the Chinese company CRBC, the Podgorica firm, Geo Maks Group, and the Pljevja-based Putin.
Most Moracica should be 970 meters long and 24 meters wide, with two pedestrian walkways and four metres space between them. On the right bank of the Moraca river, it will reach the level of the railway Bar – Beograd in the hills of Bratonozici and it will have five pillars the height of which will reach 180 meters.
The priority highway section is challenging because there is a climb at its 41st kilometre, which begins at 63 meters above sea level in Smokovac and ends at 1,100 meters above sea level in Matesevo.
There will be 18 tunnels with a total length of 17 kilometres, 13 3km long bridges, five 470 metre long viaducts and four loops – at Pelev hill, Smokovac, Verusa and Matesevo.
Estimated speed on this highway section is 100 km/h, travel time between Podgorica and Kolasin is shortened to 25 minutes.
The priority section Smokovac –Matesevo is to be completed by May 2019. As estimated, it will cost €809m, 85% of which has been provided by the loan taken out from the Chinese Exim Bank, with a payback period of 20 years and 2% interest rate.
