This is why Vogue sees Montenegro as this year’s most tempting travel destination

Vogue magazine explains why Montenegro may be this year’s most tempting travel destination. It gives six reasons for that – uncluttered coastline, food, low prices, outdoor adventure, luxury hotels and new cruise itineraries.

Vogue recommends visiting Budva, Ulcinj, but also somewhat more luxurious Sveti Stefan.

“Authentic food is also pointed out. Dishes that are particularly recommended are: burek, sarma (cabbage leaves stuffed with mincemeat) and cheese in olive oil,” according to the website of the National Tourism Organisation.

As Vogue representatives said “Although a little more expensive than Macedonia and Albania, the prices in Montenegro are still a far cry from other Mediterranean hot spots, like Croatia and Greece”.

The article points out that tourist can rent an entire apartment with a balcony overlooking the Bay of Kotor for less than €30 a night.

“Prices do go up in the summer tourist season, so for even more savings, visit in the shoulder seasons,” the article reads.

As NTO interpreted, Montenegro is presented as a great place in the Balkans for outdoor adventures.

“Vogue recommended the Durmitor national park Durmitor, the Tara canyon and unavoidable rafting, the old town of Kotor as a true cultural treasure. When it comes to recommendations of luxury hotels, Vogue singled out Porto Montenegro and Regent hotel, luxury hotelier Aman and many others,” NTO said.

“Although the locals will say there are already plenty of cruise passengers flooding the city of Kotor, 2017 is bringing even more ships and itineraries to the country of less than 1 million residents,” Vogue says.
