Vujanovic: I thanked Obama for his support for NATO

“During the reception at the President of the United States, I was able to express gratitude for the US stance to call Montenegro into NATO and to hear what we know we should do: promote our activities to the wider public thus promoting the value of NATO, so that we could receive the invitation for partnership in December”, Vujanovic said in a statement to the national Montenegrin television, RTCG.

During his previous speech at the United Nations, President Vujanovic said Montenegro is firmly committed to actively contributing and supporting collective efforts to maintain international peace and security, and that engagement of Montenegrin soldiers and officers in international missions is a confirmation of fulfillment of international obligations and building partnership relations.

“As a member of the Human Rights Council, we pay particular attention to issues of prevention of discrimination and violence, protecting children’s rights, persons with disabilities, LGBT people, strengthening the position and role of women and girls, and the protection of freedom of opinion and expression. Marking 20 years of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action obliges us to intensify efforts to implement important documents relating to implementation and strengthening of human rights for women and girls”, stressed Vujanovic.
