Former vice president of the Municipality of Budva Ljubomir Filipovic accused the current chairman of the City Council Djordjije Vujovic that he laid a wreath on the memorial to the executed chetniks on behalf of the city council, Pobjeda writes.
On his Facebook profile, Filipovic posted a photo of Vujovic with a wreath in his hands taken on 28 June near the memorial site located in the Podlastva Monastery in Lastva Grbaljska. At the wreath ribbon it is written “In memory of our heroes and martyrs, since Kosovo to this day – The Municipality of Budva”.
“The Budva City Council chairman, elected by votes of SDP, URA and LP, on their behalf lays a wreath on the memorial to executed members of chetniks movement,” Filipovic wrote in the photo capture. He explained that he had no intention to degrade any personal tragedy, but to point to “the photo as a political step on behalf of the municipality”.
It is a memorial in Bar where members of the Ravnogorski (Chetniks) Movement from Grbalj, Maine and Pastrovici were buried. The monument was erected in 1992. Metropolitan Amfilohije, Serbian Patriarch Pavle and Serbian academician Matija Beckovic attended the ceremony among others.
Vujovic confirmed to Pobjeda that he laid the wreath on the monument on 28 June. However, he claims that it was not a monument to chetniks, but to liberators killed in both world wars. He added that the monument was erected in 1992 and never attracted attention until now.
