“Parliamentary dialogue that has been initiated and run by president Krivokapic, with the European Commission’s support, is the anchor that protects Montenegro against even deeper political crisis and destabilisation. At the moment, the confidence vote represents an attempt to destroy the parliamentary dialogue, because all the parties agreed to discuss the government, i.e. the legal and political model within the framework of the parliamentary dialogue,” Vuksanovic said.
He added that the motion on the confidence in the government was an attempt to escape from the scheduled dialogue between the leaders of parliamentary parties on the legal and political model that would guarantee conducting free and fair elections
“Apparently, there is willingness to avoid crating consensus on this issue and thus solving the crisis. The issue of government serves to create an even stronger polarisation and deepen political crisis. There is a desire to break the parliamentary dialogue and govern until elections based on political corruption. There is no doubt that such legal and political violence in the Parliament would push Montenegro into a secondary political track, politically destabilise the state and stop the Euro-Atlantic integration. All these are key reasons why the SDP will not back the confidence vote,” Vuksanovic said.
She reminded that during his visit to Niksic, PM Milo Djukanovic said that parties that had not participated in the elections could not have their representatives in the government and that it would be “a precedent not only in the Montenegrin political history, but also in the global one”.
“The current government contains two ministers from a party that did not participate in the elections. According to the prime minister’s statement, there is not such an example anywhere in the world. Therefore, it is clear that those who consider political dignity of such a government as an important thing cannot expect support for the government in which there are two stolen ministerial posts. Such a support would be based on political corruption,” said Vuksanovic.
