The cases of war crimes of Morinj, Bukovica, Kaludjerski Laz and the deportation of refugees from Herceg Novi have been reopened at the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT). Tea Gorjanc Prelevic, director of Human Rights Action (HRA), has told Pobjeda that the HRA welcomes the actions taken by the Chief Special Prosecutor regarding the formation of criminal cases in relation to the named crimes.
Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novovic has ordered that the cases be reopened, so that they finally receive a judicial epilogue.
The SDT also explains that the cases were assigned to special prosecutors who, according to the annual work schedule, specialize in criminal acts of war crimes.
As it was announced, before the reopening of criminal cases, Novovic brought action plans in relation to war crimes cases that are in the reconnaissance or investigation phase, i.e. in relation to events that are included in the already completed war crimes proceedings, and with which he regulated the measures and activities that the SDT will undertake with the aim of making prosecutorial decisions in the shortest possible time, i.e. considering legal options for further action based on available and possibly new evidence.
The war crimes investigation strategy was adopted in September last year and was developed with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), for the period up to 2027. Then the Action Plan for this year was adopted.
