WB’s decision on an €80m guarantee expected

The World Bank Board of Directors is supposed to decide today on an €80m guarantee for Montenegro to support the state budget. That will allow Montenegro to borrow €200-240m from commercial banks at lower interest rates and with longer repayment period.

As a reminder, at the meeting with finance minister Darko Radunovic in early October, World Bank country manager for Montenegro, Emanuel Salinas, said that the meeting should be held on 20 December.

He said at the meeting that the government’s short-term achievements were impressive.

“The foundations for the implementation of systemic, reform processes have been set up, and the World Bank is at its disposal to support the government’s efforts to successfully reach its goal,” Salinas said at the time.
