Although it was pompously announced that the celebration of the National Day of Montenegro at the Expo in Dubai on 6 February will be joined by the Montenegrin delegation led by PM Zdravko Krivokapic, the Montenegrin government changed the composition of the delegation at the last minute and without any explanation. The Minister of Economic Development, Jakov Milatovic, and several associates will travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) instead of the first man in executive power, Pobjeda reports.
The rapid changes in the plan, composition and level of the Montenegrin delegation to visit the UAE are a kind of diplomatic scandal and disrespect for the host country.
This episode shows the lack of knowledge of basic diplomatic rules, but it is also a testimony to the unbalanced and ignorant attitude of Montenegrin officials towards important partners of Montenegro. The UAE is among the ten most important investors in Montenegro: since 2007, it has invested €363m in various projects.
