Figures that reflect the results of summer seasons, which for years – in all respects – were dominated by tourists from Russia, this year have given a real state of the tourist offer after the collapse in 2020 caused by the coronavirus pandemic, but obviously new strategic directions of tourism development in Montenegro, Dnevne Novine reports.
With the desire to fill the state budget with the only real income – those from tourists arriving in Montenegro – the current government has decided to ignore all health protocols for countries in the region and allow neighbors to vacation at the expense of the host. It decided the same for the guests from Russia, but that was not enough for the “free will” (influenced by political conditions) of tourists from this country.
According to the data from the MONSTAT Statistical Office and the Ministry of Economic Development, which Dnevne had access to, 90,182 tourists from Russia stayed in Montenegro by the end of September, which represents 6.2% of the total number of tourists or only 26% of results achieved in the same period in 2019. More precisely, in the first 9 months of the record tourist year, 352,855 guests arrived from Russia.
