The meeting of the ruling majority in the Podgorica Assembly is supposed to be held today. Councilors are going to make decision on the solution to the crisis of power in Podgorica – by reaching the agreement or organizing snap elections.

Yesterday, a part of the opposition sent an initiative to all parties – aiming to dismiss Mayor of Podgorica, Olivera Injac, and shorten the mandate of the Capital City Assembly. In order to organize the session of the Capital City Assembly and consider this topic, 20 councilors have to sign it. The initiators hope to get the signatures with the help of the DPS. However, in order for the initiative to be voted for, 6 councilors of the current ruling majority need to vote for it as well. The Capital City Assembly counts 58 councilors.

The Social Democrats councilor in the capital’s assembly, Milos Maskovic, notes that Podgorica residents are those who suffer consequences due to the fight between ex-colleagues – Europe Now and the Movement for Podgorica. He expects session to be convened in a month at the latest, as envisaged by the Rules of Procedure of the assembly.

PES councilor, Branislav Radicevic, claims that Branka Bosnjak and Medojevic’s Movement for Changes (PzP) are sabotaging the agreement in Podgorica, aiming to join the DPS.

The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, yesterday noted that the crisis in Podgorica might be solved by the agreement or snap elections.

Asked about the opinion over the crisis of power in the capital, Prime Minister, Milojko Spajic, said that it wasn’t appropriate to interfere in governing at the local level.

The President of the Podgorica Municipal Assembly, Jelena Borovonic Bojovic, notes that she’s not going to back either shortening of the mandate for the Podgorica assembly or the dismissal of Mayor Injac.

Mr Maskovic commented on her statement later on, saying that she would be the happiest to see Ms Injac leaving her position.
