According to the media, Vucelic has no criminal record in Montenegro. He worked as a physical worker in “Plantations”, and his last known address was in the settlement of Konik in Podgorica.
His brother Zeljko was shocked when received the information that Vladan was arrested in Germany and said he was confused.
“I do not know what to think. I am confused. When I saw on TV that he was arrested with a lot of weapons in his car and that he was associated with these attacks, I thought it was some kind of mistake. How has he appeared in Germany? He has never crossed the state boarder. And why has he gone there? At whose request?”, Zeljko Vucelic told Pobjeda daily.
He says that his younger brother “knowingly could have nothing to do with Islamists”, but he might be hired by someone to transport something abroad or bring from abroad “for little money”. He added he was 100% sure that his brother did not know what was in the car.
“I’m glad that the weapons were not passed on to hurt someone and ‘leave someone without a family’. But I’m sorry because of his sentence. I know what follows. How can he fight against the great powers?,” Vucelic added.
He stressed that he talked to his brothers’ friends and that no one knew anything.
Zeljko speculates that his brother arranged the “business deal” while he was staying at a spa in Igalo, from 20th to 27th October. He also believes Vladan took out a passport and an international driver permit then.
He saw his brother on October 31st the last time and everything was fine then. After five or six days he realised Vladan was gone.
“I called him, but his mobile phone was turned off. I asked friends. Nobody knew anything”, Zeljko said.
Then his cousin told him Vladan would not be there until Sunday, November 8th and that he was abroad.
Vucelic family did not report Vladan’s missing to the police. They hoped that he would appear. Zeljko said Vladan used to work as a bus driver at “Auto Boka” and often did not answer the phone while driving.
Then, on November 11th representatives of a rent-a-car company came and asked about him.
“They told us they had rented a car which should have been returned on November 9th. They showed us the document with his name, identity card number, signature and €211 rent fee paid for seven days,” said Vucelic.
We did not report the case to the police, since the rent-a-car agency had already done that.
Vladan Vucelic was arrested in Germany on November 5th during a routine check at the Salzburg-Munich highway. A public parking lot in Paris was set as the ultimate destination in the navigation system in his car. Police found a gun, two rifles AK-47, two hand grenades, fuses, detonators and 200 grams of explosives in the car. In addition, there were several French SIM cards in the car, as well as notes with several addresses in Paris.
Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Hermann told German media that they were investigating whether Vucelic was in contact with the terrorists.
“Someone transporting several Kalashnikovs, hand grenades and explosives could be from the serious crime sector, but there are reasons to suspect that this is about terrorist intentions, or someone supplying weapons to terrorists,” he said.
