Who’s up for arrest this week? Is URA allowed in DF government?
URA again avoided putting signatures on the letter of support for Miodrag Lekic to be the prime minister-designate for forming the new government. Bozena Jelusic announced this on Friday, without answering the question of whether that support will arrive by today. Slaven Radunovic announced that 41 MPs will send a letter to the President today informing him that Lekic has the support. Djukanovic previously said that he would not participate in the implementation of the Law on the President, so the Parliament will have to do the job of electing a new government on its own, if there is one at all.
We can only guess what the new government will look like. One of the models mentioned is that URA and SNP keep half of the seats in the government, and that the prime minister has a “golden vote” in decision-making. URA MP Milos Konatar says that URA will not give up on the security sector. As if anyone cares anymore.
There are, therefore, two scenarios for the further development of the political situation. The first is more realistic, which is that they will not agree. Fearing the continuation of the investigation into smuggling and other external sanctions, URA, under pressure, decides to sabotage the election of a new government, as they did in September. Either that, or that they do not come to an agreement with DF and the Democrats, whose ambitions are constantly growing, in the negotiations on distribution. If they do not come to an agreement, DF set 20 January as the final date, after which they will ask for elections to be called. If it is wise at all to trust DF anything. Perhaps DF is deliberately sabotaging everything on the orders of Vucic, listened to by Abazovic at the head of the government. Because the government in a technical mandate, which continues its illegitimate rule until the presidential election in the spring, can most easily implement the orders from Belgrade, as long as the WE ARE NUMEROUS protests, or some others, are joined by everyone except URA and SNP. They, Serbia and the Serbian Orthodox Church are only ones satisfied with the status quo.
Another scenario is that they come to an agreement. DF occupies some strategic positions in the government. A campaign of arrests and reprisals begins with the cooperation of the Special State Prosecutor’s Office, which Rade Milosevic uses as a token case that justice is equal for all. By arresting officials of the former government for different sorts of things, they will try to buy social peace and sabotage the protests by collapsing the credibility of their organizers. In the first period, the government receives support from the West, protests against it grow and culminate in the spring. However, after some time everyone gets used to the new reality.
In this case, Europe Now is in trouble, which, through Podgorica’s collaboration with usurpers of power at the national level, is losing credibility and enthusiasm. The Europe Now leader can already feel Dritan Abazovic’s syndrome in its performances, i.e. fear of criticism of DF in public space. They will not go against DF because they are afraid of their dirty campaign, as well as denial of support in Podgorica and other places. DF will thus use its blackmail potential to the ultimate goal, which is the conquest of majority power according to the recipe from Budva.
