Why did Vijesti’s assistant chief editor call me a fool?
Last night, Vucic once again made a big victory in the election in Serbia. The opposition got carried away by Djordjije Vukadinovic’s forecasts, and again experienced defeat. I wish Djordjije, by the way, that the research on the Montenegrin census, which was heavily promoted by the Russian RT Balkan, goes well.
The Serbian opposition still does not understand why it is losing in the elections, and why it has a problem mobilizing and motivating people to go to the polls in the first place. Perhaps they would start to recover if they looked for the problem in the fact that they have nothing to offer people other than what Vucic is already successfully offering them.
Because they have led themselves to a dead end through ideological compromise. Vucic literally trained them all so that they must not think of touching the totems and dogmas of the ruling national ideology.
Vukasin Obradovic is an excellent example of what I am talking about. Paradigm of melting energy of the Serbian opposition scene. Pioneer of local free media in Serbia. A man of great principles. Long-time president of the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS). An impeccable biography. Until Djilas manners took over and trampled the Democratic Party, and then the entire opposition.
When Vucic took power, he attracted a great deal of the civil sector. How? The same story he sells to the West: “Don’t listen to what I say in public, watch what I do.” And what does he do? Many symbolic things. Appoint a member of the LGBT population as prime minister, sell some ammunition to Ukraine, appoint a few pro-Western ministers here and there, give some money to a former other Serb to support him.
The only argument that Vucic is afraid of is the one that is closest to the truth – that he largely betrayed the 1990-2000 version of himself. And that he betrayed what he considered national interests at the time. And that is why he is now keeping himself and Serbia in limbo. A man nurtures a national dogma which he knows is unachievable and thanks to which he actually wins elections.
The key to his victory is that he infected his opponents with that dogma and limited them forever. Among other things, dogma is Kosovo and the state church. They are not supposed to be touched. The same applies to anti-NATO.
The man diabolically turns former leaders of liberal Serbia into shadows. Look at Cedomir Jovanovic. Ceda serves as a scarecrow for anyone who thinks that recognizing Kosovo and the Srebrenica genocide is a good idea.
The “smart” and “free” ones, who did not put themselves in such a situation, remained in the true opposition. Now they lead the Serbian opposition and the media in Serbia. They are those who are no longer in power, or could never get into it. Those who started making compromises with nationalists and fascists in the opposition in order to prove that they are not other Serbia. Those who invest all their energy to prove that they are not traitors to the national dogma. Those who, as someone said, may have learned at workshops and seminars that Kosovo is independent and that Srebrenica experienced genocide, but not that Montenegrins exist because that has not yet entered the curriculum of regional human rights schools.
Vukasin is not one of those people. For him, Montenegrins exist. Just probably for Vukasin, as well as for his colleague from the company – Ranko Pivljanin, and the like, there are normal and abnormal Montenegrins. He calls out these abnormal people on Twitter by comparing Montenegrin tweeters with Seselj. Vukasin is not much different from his colleague from the company, Zaklina Tatalovic, who goes to Kosovo in camouflage clothing.
After the takeover of Vijesti by a Serbian company, Vukasin came to the top of Vijesti. I will not go into how and why, but for me it is proof that we have become part of the same political space with Serbia. It is funny to watch Vukasin observing Montenegrin politics through Serbian glasses. It is painful to see how people in Belgrade still think that Montenegrins need tutors for everything. It is even more painful that we accept it and look at the Belgrade and Serbian know-how as a golden calf. That’s what DPS also did, let’s be clear (Pink and Informer).
In the end, Vukasin called me a fool on Twitter last night, and joined the campaign of a thousand insults and threats. Why? Because, after he was provoked by my apology to the Kosovars, I explained to him that this is not Serbia, according to whose valid ideology political rights are acquired by descent, blood and genetics. This is still a civil state in which the national team plays for Montenegro, not for some “Monrenegrin genus” .
